DON GIOVANNI--Batti, batti

The Opera: The French composer Charles Gounod called DON GIOVANNI "a work of uninterrupted perfection." Now it returns to Eugene Opera in a cast of exciting young American singers under the music direction of Andrew Bisantz.

The Production: DON GIOVANNI will be sung in Italian in a new production designed by the Metropolitan Opera's Fabrizio Melano, one of the world's most distinguished operatic directors. Our cast is headed by the dramatic young baritone Michael Todd Simpson, a singer who the Washington Post hails as "superb."

The Music: By turns somber and light, this magnificent music captures both the drama and comedy of the classic tale of the seducer and his effect on the world. Mozart's unparalleled psychological insight makes this opera as contemporary to us as it was to its first listeners over 220 years ago.
